Senior Business Consultant

CARITech is seeking an experienced Senior Business Consultant. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing innovative and strategic business solutions while leveraging deep technical knowledge and expertise. Candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to understand their business requirements and translate them into practical software solutions. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency, business acumen, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Consultation and Requirement Analysis:
    • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand their business needs, objectives, and challenges.
    • Conduct comprehensive analysis and assessment of existing processes, systems, and workflows.
    • Identify gaps and areas for improvement and provide tailored software solutions to address business challenges.
  • Solution Design and Development:
    • Architect functional software solutions by translating complex business requirements into detailed logic specifications and process flows.
    • Define and document comprehensive business rules, system workflows, and functional specifications to ensure technical feasibility.
    • Partner with Development and Architecture teams to ensure that the built solution aligns with functional requirements and UX designs.
    • Review and validate Figma prototypes to ensure user journeys align with business logic and functional constraints.
    • Define “Happy Path” test scenarios and acceptance criteria to guide the QA team and ensure the core business value is delivered.
    • Design and optimize end-to-end business processes using flowcharts or UML diagrams to visualize system behavior.
  • Functional Design Expertise and Guidance:
    • Provide functional expertise and domain guidance to clients, project teams, and stakeholders, ensuring that software designs solve the core business problems.
    • Assist in evaluating the functional impact of proposed technologies or platforms to ensure they can support the required business rules and user workflows.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends in UX/UI, business process automation, and design thinking to continuously improve the quality of software specifications.
  • Functional Leadership & Quality Oversight:
    • Lead the functional design phase of complex software initiatives, ensuring that business logic is clearly defined and milestones for specifications are met.
    • Collaborate with Project Managers to align the design scope with overall project objectives, ensuring that deliverables meet the intended business value.
    • Act as the Functional Authority during the development lifecycle, providing clarity on requirements to cross-functional teams and unblocking logic-related hurdles.
    • Coach and mentor junior Designers, establishing standards for high-quality documentation, business rule definition, and effective UX reviews.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Solution Advocacy:
    • Build and maintain strong functional partnerships with clients and stakeholders to deeply understand their business domain, operational pain points, and strategic priorities.
    • Act as a Trusted Functional Advisor, providing clarity on how software designs will solve business challenges and ensuring that the final specifications align with client expectations.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, suggesting functional enhancements or new features that add genuine value to the client’s existing business workflows.

 

Requirements and skills

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: Proven experience as a Lead Systems Analyst, Software Functional Designer, or Senior Business Consultant within the software development industry.
  • Banking & FinTech Expertise (Strong Preference): Deep functional knowledge of banking operations (e.g., Core Banking, Payments, Wealth Management, or Lending).
  • Familiarity with financial industry standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 20022, Swift, or Open Banking).
  • Understanding of regulatory and security compliance (e.g., KYC, AML, or PCI-DSS).
  • Modeling & Design Tools: High proficiency in Figma for reviewing and validating User Experience (UX) designs, and expert use of visual modeling tools (e.g., LucidChart, Visio, or Jira) for BPMN flows and UML diagrams.
  • Requirement Engineering: Mastery in gathering complex business requirements and translating them into structured Functional Specifications, Business Rules, and “Happy Path” logic.
  • Technical Literacy (Non-Coding): A strong conceptual understanding of software architecture, API integrations, and database structures to ensure functional designs are technically feasible without needing to write code.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to think critically, decompose complex business problems, and design end-to-end software solutions.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead a design team, establish documentation standards, and provide functional guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to clients and bridge the gap between business “wants” and technical “deliverables.”
  • Quality Oversight: Experience defining functional test scenarios and acceptance criteria to ensure the final deliverable aligns with the original business intent.
  • Relevant Certifications (Plus): CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), CCBA, or certifications in Design Thinking and UX Design.
